Christmas Shopping & FNSI finishes
It's Saturday afternoon here, and I am enjoying a silent house for a bit while nursing a headache. (Where did THAT come from? Grrr!) While the kids are gone, I need to finish up some last minute things, or it will be late nights at the sewing machine for me this week. ... On to more cheerful news! I spent the morning/afternoon shopping with my mom and sister-in-law. I did manage to buy some neat gifts, but when I got home, I realized I had also picked up a lot of things for myself here and there. (Am I the only one?) My loot for the day:
I just could NOT resist these adorable POLKA DOT embroidery scissors! I love all things polka dot, and didn't have a pair of embroidery scissors (not that I embroider) SO, it all added up in my head. And this lovely charm pack of Moda Adoring to accent some planned stockings. :o)
The whole point of a trip to the fabric shop was to get bobbins, yep there they are! Burt's Bees has some new *flavors* I have yet to try, so I NEEDED that, being winter and all. More flat pins, and some Twill tape... saw a great idea for making your own labels.
I raided the scrap bin while at JoAnn's and found that great paw print flannel which is perfect for the lining of the next journal cover on my to-to-list. My daughter will love it! A little nursery print for some planned NICU blankets, and that awesome giant ric-rac I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby. All in all, they were great bargains, a few dollars here, a few more there. When I got home I was like *oops* that's a lot of little things!
NOW! FNSI finishes!
A striped green journal cover for daughter #1. I hope to make a matching pen/pencil roll to match before the big day, too.
A cute repro-print pillow cover... My first! I have another almost finished just like this and eventually they will grace my bed, and not the red couch. ;o)
That was my Friday in pictures. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, and if I'm not back before the big guy arrives... Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! :o)

Gearing up for FNSI pt 2
It's Wednesday and I am prepping for this week's Friday Night Sew In hosted by Handmade by Heidi . Barring any last minute babysitting gigs for sick relatives, I will be all in trying to finish up some last minute gifts.(Yes, I am one of *those* people in the stores on Christmas Eve.) I am forever a procrastinator... I was 2 weeks late being born, 5 minutes behind for everything in life, and probably will be late for my own funeral. That being said... sign up and join in! I am hoping it lights a fire under my butt, maybe it can do the same for you!

Keeper of the stash!
Had to share this absolutely adorable picture of our cat sleeping on the small stash I have in our bedroom closet. I say he is guarding it because he knows what is dear to my heart! Ha! Good kitty! You will get extra treats tonight. :o)

Not sew unproductive FNSI
Had an impromptu babysitting session for my brother and his wife last night. The poor girl has come down with some nasty sinus infection and my brother was going to a concert. SO... call little sister in to help out with the kiddos. I grabbed the first travel-project I could think of and headed out. My night consisted of helping out with the wee ones, visiting with my sister-in-law and making a boat load of yo-yo's. Do I have a plan for them? No, but someday I will! I use a lot of my odd scraps for this. So, here is my Friday contribution. A gallon baggie full of yo-yo's. :o) Next week WILL be better! It has to be.

Friday Night Sew In! :o)
This is sooooo needed... hop on over to Handmade by Heidi and join in on the Friday Night Sew Ins... one on December 10th and the next will be December 17th. Kick the hubby and the kiddos out of your sewing space and get those last minute gifts and what-nots completed. I'm excited as this will be my first official joining in on something like this in blog-land. Yay! Now I just need to set up a Flickr account so I can post pictures after. :o)
This blog designing is driving me crazy!
Just not *getting* it, I guess? I love a lot of the headers some of you have out there, but all I have been able to figure out how to do is post one of my pictures behind their pre-set lettering. Bah! Wish I could just *sew* a header! Ha! I think I will try to post some pictures next... start getting a feel for this.
